MOLLUSCUM CONTAGIOSUM

Causative agent is a Poxvirus. Papules are mostly seen on the face and body in children, and genital are in young adults (sexually transmitted disease). Pearl-like, hard nodules with a dimple at the top are seen. If squeezed laterally with a pair forceps a white greasy mass protrudes from the central dimple. This feature is pathognomonic. Treatment is squeezing of nodules and application of an iodine solution. Electro-coagulation under local anesthesia is the best treatment for genital lesions.
